I recently updated my WP Auto Blog Buddy plugin and had a surprise or rather an error when activated. It has now been solved and I learned a very important lesson as a result. So what lesson is that? I am going to share that with you so just read on…
I have been using the previous version of the ABB plugin for quite sometimes and it worked smoothly until I noticed the posts were no longer published correctly i.e. they were displayed as raw HTML pages with all the tags shown throughout. I have to manually edit the post and re-publish it. I then realized I have not been using the latest plugin so I downloaded one and installed it.
And… this is what I got on the screen:
As you can see it can’t even read the first line (or line 0 rather)!
I did all I can to troubleshoot but none worked. And I still needed to correct this error so let me outline the steps I’ve taken as below:
My first lifeline to use was the plugin publisher or so I thought. So I went to their support site and and looked into their knowledge base to no avail. I then logged a support ticket mentioning the error above and this is what I got as the answer:
So obviously next thing to do was to contact my hosting and tell them about my problem and this is their reply:
Ouch! What do I do!!
I had no other choice rather than to go back to the plugin publisher telling that the webhosting was ready for Zend Optimizer and this is their response:
By now I decided to give up already… ![]()
I don’t think I want to go back to my hosting for this again and 3 days had passed without new postings to my blog. In the meanwhile my mind is subconsciously working to find the solution.
I had this moment on the ninth day – Ah! why didn’t I use Google for help??
So I entered this search phrase “Fatal error: Unable to read 10135 bytes in /home” and picked the second search result:
which brought me to this:
It immediately caught my attention that the problem may likely has something to do with the transfer type. I hardly change my FTP setting as it always had “Auto” as default. Ahha! I think I’ve found the answer!
So I opened up FileZilla and changed transfer type to Binary and uploaded the plugin again. Hmm will this work or not? I went into Wordpress dashboard and activated the AutoBlogBuddy plugin and it worked!
Now I have first new post to my blog again after a gap of almost 2 weeks.
If you face a problem – go ask the Big G or B or Y first before anyone else not even the publisher. You may save a lot of time and less likely be disappointed!
